Made for One Warrior

Armor That Fits Like It Was Made for You. Because It Was.

Off-the-rack faire armor is cut for an average body nobody actually has. It gaps at the ribs, rides up when you sit down for a turkey leg, and starts pinching by Sunday afternoon. Custom leather armor starts with you: your measurements, your character, your budget and the way you plan to move in it.

You choose the leather, from soft garment-grade hides for a supple jerkin to heavy armor-grade leather that holds a molded shape for years. You choose the color, the tooling, the hardware and the style. Norse raider, elven ranger, pirate captain, Roman legionary, steampunk aviator or something nobody has a name for yet. Bring a sketch, a screenshot from your favorite game or just a description, and you will walk away with armor that looks like it belongs to you.

Every leather piece is made under the Asgardian Armory name, and every item is proudly made in the U.S.A. Whether you are searching for leather armor near me in Houston, Missouri City or anywhere along the drive to Todd Mission, this is the shop the faire crowd has trusted for years.

Leather, Maille and Steel

Leather, From Soft Garment to Armor Grade

Not every piece needs the same hide. A jerkin or a pouch wants soft, supple leather that drapes and breaks in fast. A breastplate or a helm wants thick armor-grade leather that can be molded, hardened and trusted to keep its shape through years of faire weekends. You get the right leather for the job, not whatever happened to be on the shelf.

You also get the details that make a piece yours: dyes from natural tan to oxblood and black, hand tooling and stamping, molded contours, rivets, buckles and lacing. Want it to look brand new or already battle-worn? Just ask.

Custom scalemail handmade near Houston by Asgardian Armory

Chainmail and Scalemail by Breanne

Every link of chainmail and every scale in the shop is made by Breanne, who has been hand-crafting maille for more than 20 years. Steel when you need strength and weight, aluminum when you want the look without the load. Hauberks, coifs, sleeves, scale shirts, accents for your leather armor, or chainmail jewelry you can wear to work on Monday.

Pick a weave, a pattern or a color scheme, and Breanne will build it one link at a time. Pair it with custom leather armor and you have a kit that looks like it walked out of a saga.

Battle-Ready Swords, Knives and Daggers

A costume sword falls apart the first time it meets another blade. The swords, knives and daggers sold through Asgardian Armory are forged by a skilled bladesmith who works with our shop, and nearly all of them are battle-ready. That means real steel, real edges and real heft in your hand.

Pair your blade with a custom leather scabbard, sheath, frog or baldric made to fit it exactly, tooled to match your armor so the whole kit tells one story.

How a Commission Works

The Saga of Your Armor

Custom armor shouldn’t be a mystery. Here is the road from idea to fitting day, in four chapters.

I

Share Your Idea

Send a sketch, a screenshot or just a description through the form, or talk it over at Booth #211. Include your event date so we can tell you honestly whether it can be done in time.

II

Quote and Deposit

You get a quote built around your design and materials. A deposit reserves your spot in the shop and gets the leather cut.

III

Measure and Forge

Full-body suits are measured in person so every strap and plate lands where it should. Then your piece is cut, tooled, dyed and assembled by hand. Most armor takes several weeks, depending on the design and how busy the shop is.

IV

Fitting Day

Pick it up at the festival store for a final fit, or, for many pieces and destinations, have it shipped to your door.

Every commission is quoted on its own design, materials and time, so you know exactly what you are paying for before the first cut.

Odin and Breanne of Asgardian Armory in full faire garb at their Texas Renaissance Festival shop
The Allfather of Booth #211

Meet Odin and the Makers

At the Texas Renaissance Festival they call him Odin, and he has been working leather for more than 30 years. Renaissance festivals have been his passion for just as long, from the Texas Renaissance Festival to Sherwood Forest Faire, Scarborough Faire and Dickens on the Strand. Today he runs Asgardian Armory from his leather workshop in Missouri City and the castle at Booth #211.

He doesn’t work alone. Breanne, his wife, hand-crafts every piece of chainmail and scalemail. A trusted bladesmith forges the swords, knives and daggers. A small circle of artisans helps bring the bigger commissions to life.

Odin and Breanne met at the Texas Renaissance Festival in 2001, got engaged under the closing-weekend fireworks, and married at Sherwood Forest Faire. Faire life isn’t a sideline for them. It’s home.

Bring us the picture in your head. We'll bring it to life in leather and steel.

It depends on the piece and how busy the shop is. Most armor takes several weeks. Tell us your event date up front and you will get an honest answer about whether it can be ready in time.

Yes. A deposit reserves your place in the build schedule and covers materials.
